* While the Sprint PCS Connection Manager (SCM) will support these devices, the drivers for the devices must be installed before they will be usable. If the user has updated the software from the internet then support for new devices will be available in Sprint PCS Connection Manager but the user may not have the necessary drivers installed. Currently, if the user wishes to support devices for which they don't have drivers installed they should uninstall their current version of SCM and download the latest version from the internet and install with the drivers required.

10/13/05 Sprint PCS Connection Manager v3.1.0.5
Known Existing Issues, there are generally device vendor issues which Anasazi has no way to resolve:
- Driver installation issues noted in release 4 have not been resolved.
- MIP error code return from the Sanyo 9000 is always 0, no error. Connection Manager will not report the proper MIP error for this device.
- Samsung does not support return of MIP error codes after connect failures.
Resolved Issues:
- All drivers are being installed and uninstalled per current vendor specifications.
- Website links have been updated.
- Bytemobile can be turned off (not installed) in the installation.
- Bytemobile installation now works properly if there is already an install on the computer.
- Messages not received when manually updating software has been improved. The messages won't appear until the web request has timed out if there are issues with connectivity. This web access timeout was changed from 5 minutes to 1 minute for this event.
- Device recognition of the Samsung 920 has been added.
- Issues with the Samsung 940 not being recognized have been resolved.
- Restrictions on NAI realms has been removed. All realms will be considered valid.
10/05/05 Sprint PCS Connection Manager v3.1.0.4
Known Existing Issues, there are generally device vendor issues which Anasazi has no way to resolve:
- Sanyo driver installation appears to be happening in reverse, the modem is installed then the serial port on which it depends is installed. This has adverse effects when Conneciton Manager is running. Connection Manager realizes the modem is installed and tries to open a non-existing port. This locks up Connection Manager and the driver installation. Both must be shut down with the Task Manager and shutting down the machine never completes. It is recommended that the phone be installed and all drivers installed before starting Connection Manager. This seems to have a greater effect in Windows Xp than in Windows 2k.
- Occaisionally when the Samsung phone is first inserted and the drivers are installed Connection Manager will not show a ready ("Disconnected") state. Device Info & Diagnostics will show the Samsung phone and its information, the Connection Manager will go to an 'Initializing' state at this point and never leave this state. Exiting Connection Manager and restarting will resolve this issue. We have been unable to replicate this error consistently enought to discover its cause but we have made changes we hope will remedy this issue.
- Sprint PPC-6700 on Win2K. Driver installation did not occur when the device was plugged in. Unplugged and stopped the WModem app, repowered the device and then restarted WModem and started the modem connection and reconnected the device to the PC, then it was recognized. First device tested would go to authenticating but never authenticate (same device used to test XP worked fine and connected to the network). Second device tested, even with prior manipulations, would not be recognized by the PC.
- Driver installations are displaying 'not certified' messages both at product install and device connection.
- Driver uninstall for Samsung and Sanyo request a user reboot when the Connection Manager client is not finished uninstalling. They should not request that the user reboot, the main install product will do that. There are multiple device vendor dialogs being displayed simultaneously when uninstalling devices for a very cluttered and confusing look.
Resolved Issues:
- Issues with the signal strength and service not updating properly have been resolved and should be working properly. Reported issues with service not displaying or showing 'No Service' on Samsung and Sprint PPC-6700 devices is due to their lack of support for this information.
- Help files have been updated and are included in this product release.
- Updates have been made to the automated update process to bring it up to date.
- The 'Remove' button has been added to the Add/Remove programs selection in the Control Panel.
- Unnecessary images and functionality have been removed which has significantly reduced the size of this product.
09/26/05 Sprint PCS Connection Manager v3.1.0.3
- Issues with Sprint PPC-6700 driver installation have been resolved and should be working properly.
- Installation and management of Bytemobile optimization has been redesigned so as not to use BMI's OEM install
module. This results in a clean install and uninstall without unnecessary files being installed by the OEM
installation. It has also allowed tighter control over install and uninstall issues where another BMI
installation may already exist.
- "ERROR" text in the Device Info and Diagnostics screen has been replaced by "Not Available" where the data
is not available from the device.
- The ERI, extended roam indicator, has been installed so that it will appear if the device supports return of the
ERI. So far, only the Sanyo 9000 supports this functionality.
- Some issues noticed in Anasazi's testing regarding the truncation of text on the Vision LCD have been corrected.
- Installation option selecetion has changed from the windows .msi standard (and VERY confusing) 'drop down
menu' selector to check boxes for the user to select those items they wish to install.
09/15/05 Sprint PCS Connection Manager v3.1.0.2
- Sanyo 9000, Samsung A940 and Sprint PPC-6700 phones are currently supported.
- Sprint PPC-6700 supports only the connect and disconnect functionality, all other functionality
is not currently supported. This lack of support may prevent users from recognizing and
connecting to the PPC-6700 as well.
- Connection Manager Client always reports EV-DO service for the Samsung and Sprint PPC-6700 phones.
Sanyo has provided addtional functionality and should be properly reporting the service.
- Implementation is complete for the standard set of commands but will still be incomplete
for those vendors that lack support for various commands or functionality.
- Installation of device drivers is incomplete. Vendors do not
currently have WHQL certification so you will be queried
to continue. Driver installation will not currently find
all of the necessary files. When .sys files are not found
you may instruct Windows to look in your Windows directory
under the SYSTEM32\Drivers subdirectory.
- Installation of Samsung drivers will run Samsung's installation.
- Installation of Device drivers must now be selected. There is no longer a 'Complete' installation
that will install all device drivers.
- Help files are not included in this build.
- ##DATA has been implemented in this build. There is no check of the MSL/SPC for access.
There is currently support to read AND update the profile used by PCS Vision.
- Support for the Sanyo devices is generally complete. The only item it would be nice to have is
retrieval of the MDN/Phone number so that the Device Info & Diagnostics dialog's data
was complete.
- Installation and implementation of Bytemobile optimization has been changed to better control
its behavior and uninstall cleanup.
- An issue currently exists for Bytemobile optimization which requires a restart of the Connection
Manager for settings changes to become effective.
- An issue currently exists for Bytemobile optimization where Bytemobile is leaving their icon in
the system tray once the application exits. Mousing over the icon causes it to disappear.
08/16/05 Sprint PCS Connection Manager v3.1.0.1
- Sanyo 9000 and Samsung A940 phones are currently supported.
- Sprint PPC-6700 is not supported due to missing vendor
